5 Ways to Stay Motivated

What you eat today, is how you'll feel tomorrow.

Picture
What you thought yesterday, you become today.
The strength you have today was yesterday's weakness you conquered; and what you ate yesterday is how you'll feel today.
Sorta.
If you ate salty foods, you can expect to feel tired and swollen. If you ate too many processed foods, you can expect to feel sluggish. Feeding our body high nutrient dense foods allows our body to perform at it's peak, not it's worst. Start thinking about and connecting what you eat to how you feel. By doing so, you'll not only become more aware of it's effects on you, but also WHAT your eating. Because it DOES matter. The better you feel, the more motivated you'll be to keep going.

Get Mad

Picture
Aren't you sick and tired of telling yourself every night you'll workout first thing in the morning... and never do? Aren't you frustrated that you keep dreaming up plans and routines yet never complete them? What's stopping you? The answer isn't an excuse. Only you are stopping yourself, why? Wouldn't you like to prove them all wrong? Wouldn't you love to look back on today and remember it as the day you started living your life instead of following it?
So damn straight get mad. Get mad at those things that held you back, didn't support you or believe you. Get mad at your own inaction and self made excuses and use that anger to drive you to a better place, to push you to where you need to be. Get uncomfortable and start fighting back.

Simplify It

Picture
Let me be REAL clear about this part. You don't need special shoes or stretchy pants. You don't need some overly complicated routine, or the newest "MOST EXTREME" workout dvd to be successful- that's what you need if you want to be broke and still outta shape.
If Bubba in jail can get an 8pack and arms big enough to be nick named "the pythons" with nothing more than a prison cell and what he finds, then certainly you can too in your own non prison with a mocha latte maker in the kitchen.
It's easy to spend all our time preparing, in reality we are just procrastinating.
Just do it.
Don't worry about your shoes or that all you have is pajama pants to run in. Guess what? No one is looking. Stirring noodles in the kitchen? Stop and do pushups on the counter. Mopping the floor? Lunge mop the floor. Doing laundry? Lift the detergent bottle 10x.
Just do it and before you know it, your sore and your proud.

It's not about feelings

Picture
This isn't some gooey romance story or Fifty Shades of Grey. This is real life; this is YOUR life. If you waited until you felt like doing things, you would never get anything done!
But I know you know that saying already, don’t you? So, why are you still thinking about your feelings instead of thinking about your goals?
Most people who run don't feel like running every time. But they do it anyway.
Men and women who run towards danger and uncertainty surely have feelings of doubt and fear. But they do it anyway.
Sadly, most folks don't feel like getting up at whatever ungodly hour to trudge off to work. But they do it anyway.
We all have feelings. We all want and desire comfort; but it's misleading. Comfort equals stagnation and leads to laziness and inaction.
You can validate your feelings without actually having to abide by them. You can recognize that you’re tired and have worked all day, and you can acknowledge that the last thing you want to do is go running. But what does that have to do with you becoming the person that you want to become?
Nothing.
You feel like you need to keep waiting longer or that you’re not ready yet.  I say to you that if you’re comfortable and afraid to leave that place, then you’re already stagnant. You are the one in control, not your feelings.
Decide that you have to do this for yourself!  THERE’S NO CRYING IN BASEBALL!

Don't do it alone

Picture
Think of every great superhero, masked men and women protecting the innocent; whisking bad guys off to their fate. Fighting tirelessly for truth and justice, and coming to the aid of the helpless. All of these fighters for good have two things in common; each has a nemesis and each has a side kick.
Think about it.
Sure, Batman is great, but he still requires Robin and Alfred at his side.
Find your side kick.
Secondly, the majority of what you’re going through and are too embarrassed to ask about, are the same things that other people are going through.
Yes, my boobs are sagging too, and yes eggs give me gas too!
Find your support system, whether that's a friend or a professional, One that you can not only workout with, but share more personal (and comical) stuff with.
But also remember Batman never used Robin as an excuse not to save a damsel in distress. You can't use your support system as an excuse…because there are no excuses.
You are only competing against who you were yesterday, but we all need support in the journey.
Find yours.

3 Beginner Core Exercises

Elbow Plank

A highly effective isometric move, most people start out with 20 seconds and increase their time as they progress.
Planking uses (what feels like) every muscle group, but centers on your core. If you find you are having pain in your lower abdomen (under your belly button), try planking on your knees instead until you can build up the strength to do more. It's important that there are no butts in the air and no slouching butts either. You want to create a flat line as showed in above image. You can't say you don't have 30 seconds a day to do this one. No excuses.
Picture

Side Plank

Side planks, like elbow planks are going to target your core, with focus on your obliques.
Starting out simple allows you to gauge your own abilities. Remember not to hyper extend your hips OR slouch those hips. If you are having knee pain, try placing your top foot slightly behind the other to offset some of that pressure.
Picture

Windshield Wipers

Excellent for stretching your lower back and working your core.
If your a beginner to this exercise, Eat2Live recommends starting with your knees in a bent position, not straight.
Picture
As you develop more flexibility and strength, this exercise can still come with you and help strengthen more than just your core and back.
Picture
No matter where you are starting, if you don't quit, you WILL reach your goal. Eat2Live recommends trying these daily. The entire workout last less than 3 minutes, most people spend more time than that staring at their iPhones on the toilet. You can do this.

3 Tummy Turn Around Moves You Can Start Today

Russian Twists

Great for everyone, but especially for beginners.
If you're trying to work your Obliques, Rectus Abdominus, Transverse Abdominus... this is a great exercise to do daily. Beginners can start easily and add weight as they progress. It sure beats sit ups and most everyone can do this regardless of size or fitness level.

Bicycle Kicks

Lose that lower abdomen belly fat.
Bicycle kicks are simple, but they aren't easy. Best for the beginners and moderate belly burning fans out there. The goal is to use your abs to bring up your legs NOT to strain to reach your knees using your elbows. (That's how injuries happen) It's better to do this one slow until you have built up muscle memory and your own little groove. Do this one today and we promise you'll feel it tomorrow!

Mountain Climbers

Use more than just your core to get the job done.
Mountain Climbers are a more advanced exercise because it requires you to not just engage your core, but also uses your shoulders and legs while making you sweat. In a plank position, drive each knee towards your chest and...climb up the mountain! This will help all of your core and then some.

Now What?

Now it's up to you. You decide whether you have 5 minutes a day to work on your body. You decide whether those excuses are worth it. Eat2Live recommends trying all 3 Tummy Turn Arounds daily, even if you only do 20 seconds of each. Forming the habit is priority #1.
