On my breakfast food adventure, I discovered Rip's Power-Up Bowl Double Berry Hot Cereal made by Engine 2 Plant-Strong (a Whole Foods product). It's a hot cereal that's USDA organic and certified gluten-free. Imagine oatmeal with strawberries and blueberries. Now imagine adding in quinoa and sesame seeds on top. One serving has 34g of whole grains and 4g of protein. I love adding fresh blueberries and a 1/2 tsp of organic sugar. Bypassing the nutritional content, it tastes great and gives you more variety in breakfast options. One bag should last a week or two and costs about $5 at Whole Foods. Need I remind you that 1 box of Cheerios costs about $4 and will only last about a week? Have you considered that for a dollar more you could be tripling your health benefits and shopping less often? Plus, if you start your day with this hot cereal and two eggs, you're getting in about 15g of protein, or about 30% of your recommended protein intake for the day. Protein not only feeds your muscles and brain but also keeps you feeling fuller longer. Rip's Power-Up Bowl also contain sesame seeds which are one of the most potent seeds for fighting high cholesterol, blood pressure and cancer. You'd literally be giving your body everything it needs to start your day. Visit your local Whole Foods (assuming you have one) and try out this fast and easy breakfast that's sure to please not only your taste buds but your body too!

Juicing is a part of my daily routine, and by extension, a part of my Members lives to help us all lead a healthier, happier life- one cup of juice at a time. If you are toying with the idea of juicing or want to know how it can help you overcome illness and obesity, make sure you read my three articles: "What Is Juicing?," "I'm Ready to Start Juicing," and "I Bought A Juicer, Now What?" When looking into juicing, my Members are concerned with the expense of investing in a juicer, and it's my job to try and make it as financially painless as possible. A few years ago I recommended everyone try the Jack LaLaine juicer which lived a long, happy life in my own kitchen, but sadly is becoming harder and harder to find. So today I would like to introduce you to the Joe Cross Juicer which is both wholly affordable and perfect if you are new to juicing.
In addition to that, you'll receive four vacuum-sealed cups for storing your fresh juice for 3 days, and I tested it. You really can save it for up to three days without losing any taste or nutrients. All you'll need to do is seal the lid and pump the air out, and you're done! Just make sure to handwash these when you're finished drinking them. You'll also get two insulated cups with lids and straws to drink your juice immediately, all which are dishwasher safe! Plus, you'll get two juice boxes that are spill-proof and perfect for kiddos or taking your drinks on the go. However, if all that wasn't enough, Joe also gives you freezer push pops, decomposable bags for the pulp bin, his movie, "Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead" on DVD, and even an adorable juicing how-to guide and recipe book. For $90 you seriously can't go wrong with this purchase. You get everything you need to start juicing: the equipment, the vacuum sealed cups (which are impossible to find anywhere on their own), and the motivation to keep doing it over the long haul. picture from Amazon.com Upon speaking with the team at Joe Cross Juicers I was informed that this Bundle is only a limited time offer, but as of April 2018, you can still get this great deal by ordering through Amazon.
What I loved most was the ability to juice large amounts at once using the pitchers and vacuum sealed cups. Instead of my usual routine of juicing twice a day, I was able to juice more substantial amounts every 2-3 days, giving me more time and the ability to grab and go when I wanted a pick me up. I received my package on time, and everything was neatly boxed and felt like it had been put together with love. I wasn't just buying a random appliance. This bundle was created by an avid juicer himself who knows precisely what is needed to make it easy for everyone and I sincerely felt that love as I unwrapped it. Joe has changed the lives of millions around the world, helping them achieve health they never thought possible and now he's offering an easy and affordable way for everyone to get a fresh start juicing. I highly recommend this Bundle to anyone who's on a budget, ready to get started juicing or looking for a simpler way to do it less frequently while still getting the maximum results. Plus, you're helping to support a person who's given so much to so many. You really can't go wrong with this one, and I'm proud to recommend his product! It’s the early 2000s, I had a candy bar cell phone, still printed maps before driving, and two beautiful towers still stood in New York City. It was a simpler time compared to the woes of our current ecosystem. It was a time of bunny ears on your tv, written checks, and the world’s best infomercials at 3am. If you were up at 3am, you’d have the pleasure of seeing Cleo the psychic, Suzanne Somers with her ThighMaster, SoloFlex, and my personal favorite, Chef Tony and the Miracle Blade kitchen knife wondershow (ok, maybe I made that last bit up…). I never called Cleo or her friends, but I do believe my mother bought a ThighMaster and let me tell you, that contraption will pull your groin muscle out before it ever tightens your thighs. We can’t all be Suzanne. But Chef Tony was a man of his own making, the world’s best salesman and watching him do anything made you want it. Purposefully I would watch his show Sunday mornings, running to the kitchen to try and slice bread with my knife. I’d simultaneously be disappointed with my own useless blade and wowed by his. He could throw pineapples in the air and slice them in half (a feat I've never been able to replicate), then cut an exhaust pipe from a car, and after wiping off the blade, smoothly cut a tomato or sliced bread. I was hooked and too broke to actually call the 1-800 number and order myself a set. But I watched every weekend like an old lady watches her soap opera shows. Maybe it was because I was a cook at the time, maybe it was the enthusiasm of Chef Tony’s cutting, slicing, and dicing skills. Whatever the reason, I fantasized about owning my own set of Miracle Blades. Oh, all the things I would cut, slice and dice…I’d have to start buying more pineapple and uncut bread. But wait, if I acted now, I could get a genuine wooden knife holder perfect for displaying these gleaming sharp beauties. So I know you’re asking yourself, if I’m this excited about those knives nearly 20 years later, then I surely must of bought them, right? No, my dearest reader, I did not. Some things are just better left as fantasies, like staying in Disney’s castle, owning your own pony, or yes, slicing pineapples in half like a ninja. Alas, the days of spray on hair, Encyclopedia Britannica, and Chef Tony’s knives are past, as are my dreams of owning my own Pony named Bubblegum (what? I named her!). So since we can’t sit down at 7am on a Sunday and be wowed by a man cutting a leather shoe in half.... Here are the 3 knives everyone needs in their kitchen8-inch Chef KnifeParing KnifeSmaller knife used to peel, trim and/or slice smaller produce or score meat. Tip: Create a flat surface so your food (or your fingers) don’t get away from you. Bread KnifeIt does what it says it does. Tip: A bread knife is also good for cutting thin skinned produce like tomatoes or eggplant. Even if you’ll never get to experience the glory of sawing an exhaust pipe in half, if you have these three knives- you’ll be a pro in the kitchen in no time. Just like Chef Tony, make sure you have an organized work space and clean as you go (but don’t throw all the cut produce in the sink, why’d he do that?). Never put your knives in the dishwasher, and instead, wash right after use and dry them! If you take care of them, your knives can last a lifetime, even if it’s not a lifetime guarantee by the Miracle Blade Master himself. Besides the boxed dinners and jars of pickled beets, what’s in your pantry? Most of us have some canola oil, salt, a bag of sugar and maybe a spray can of Pam. But right when you feel enthused about starting a recipe or trying to eat better, you realize that your pantry is woefully unprepared for your cooking expedition. This article is going to cover the basics, while also teaching some old dogs as new tricks in the kitchen. Cooking OilsYou need more than just Canola to get through. Everyone should have at least 2 types of oils on hand for various recipes. Olive Oil
High Heat OilSmoking point is when the temperature reaches it’s hottest levels and literally begins to smoke. When this happens, the oil releases toxic free radicals into your food, kills the taste, and kills whatever nutritional value there was in it. Finishing OilAll oils will get bitter as they age so toss out the old dusty bottles that’ve been there for over a year. Salt & Spices

Some grains to try: Arborio Rice (for Risotta) Barley (not for those with food sensitivities) Great in soups, beer, and meats, but not everyone’s body likes barley, so use with awareness. Brown Rice Millet Quinoa (Technically a fruit, but we eat it as a grain) Basmati Rice (More flavorful and colorful) Whole Steel-cut oats Canned TomatoesLike everything we do at Eat2Live2Love, I encourage you to start small, start where you are, and try new things the next time you’re at the store!
“Being a writer means you’ve got to bare your soul…”, I once heard. To write, is to pour emotion, with all it’s brilliant colors and swirls, into black font on white page. But that’s not what this article is about. No, what I should have been told is “Being a writer means you’ve got to bare your ho-ha, your lady parts, your va-jay-jay, your….” This article is for all women, whom I bravely share my girly-bits with to touch on a subject that nearly all women face, but nearly all women avoid. And I’m not talking “avoid” in the polite sense, oh no, I’m mean the “won’t even give me eye contact” kinda avoid. So if you’re a man, as much as I love you as a reader, you’ll need to slowly back outta the room now… or just stand quietly in the corner like you normally do when she’s at the ob/gyn….because this article, ain’t got no time to be explaining to you the complications of a woman’s body.... Dear LadiesStatistically speaking, right now, 30% of women have a bacterial infection like bacterial vaginosis or a yeast infection, and about 75% of us have had at least one in recent history. If 75% of any group all had one thing in common, you’d think we’d hear about it more often. But we don’t. Why is that? Well, from my observations, the va-jay-jay is strictly to be spoken of only when we’re leading up to sex. I mean, what would happen if we openly talked about it like we talk about a sinus infection or a bad migraine? Well, I suppose it wouldn’t be as attractive anymore, and if that’s the case, then what are hoo-ha’s for if not to delight the senses? The vagina is one of the most remarkable parts of the anatomy. It’s a hell of a lot more than a pleasure zone, and today we will learn about how to help your honey pot stay healthy. The CycleLet’s play a little game shall we? All your answers are private, so answer honestly and see what other women have to say! So? What did you choose? So? What did you choose? A? C? If you guessed B you are correct! Then again, if you chose A you’d be right too, or C. No matter the choice you made, these are the top 3 responses to BV or a yeast infection. Keep in mind, I’m not against medicine, I’m against bad patient care and unnecessarily prescribing drugs. More than likely, you’ll be diagnosed with bacteria, then given an antibacterial and told it will be better soon, and of course to “come back if you need anything else.” So, on your way home you stop and pick up your prescription at the local drive thru pharmacy. You take your goo or pills as prescribed and in about 7 days, just as your doctor said, you’re better. That's the end of it, right? The antibiotics your doctor prescribed can cure “symptoms” of BV in about 80% of patients. But 50% of women say symptoms come back 3 to 12 months after treatment. And yeast infections? They say that only 5-8% of women have them recurrently, but based on my own life experiences, I’d say the number is much higher than that. Now, in this article we aren’t going to get into great depth on prevention, maintenance and upkeep of the pink fortress, but instead, I’d like to give you a few tips you can implement TODAY to get you feeling more like a pretty princess. Some Reasons You’d Get Recurrent bacterial/yeast infections that your doctor might not tell you about are (and have nothing to do with wet bikini bottoms): Auto Immune Diseases Extreme Sugar Intake Antibiotics Intercourse Auto Immune DiseasesIf you have an auto immune disease, then by it’s very nature, your entire system is at risk for parasites, bacterial or fungal infections. These can manifest not only in recurrent bacterial/yeast infections but also athletes foot, nail fungus, skin infections, recurrent sinus infections, IBS, Colitis, and more. Bacteria and other pathogens start out in the intestines and colon where over 90% of your immune system lives. The first sign is generally impacted fecal matter along the inside walls of the intestinal lining which then leaks into the bloodstream and later affects the liver, then kidneys, and the bladder last when the body has reached it’s limits on toxicity. Everything works together, or falls together, especially when you have a limited immune system. Sugar IntakeBacteria feeds on sugar, and, as a matter of fact, sugar is bacteria’s main source of food. The more sugar you eat, the more you feed the bacterial cells and diminish you bodies ability to fight back. Excess sugar alters your bodies pH balance and makes it vulnerable to attack. Girls may be made of sugar, and spice and everything nice, but the sugar doesn’t like us and especially not our bajingo! AntibioticsAntibiotics do serve a purpose in the medical community but because they are so highly overused, they’re now doing the opposite of their intended purpose. Antibiotics kill bacteria. All bacteria. Good bacteria, and bad. Think of it as a nuke for your flower tunnel; sure, all the bad bacteria are gone (pretty much), but so are all the good. You’ve laid waste to your front bottom, and now need to repair the damages before more bacteria arrive and thrive in your va-jay-jay. But most of us don’t do that do we? We take our prescription, killing every last living thing in our tissue tunnels and then go right back to kitkats and Starbucks. IntercourseIf you’re having intercourse, or have had intercourse in your lifetime, then you’ll know that it’s a messy process that requires towels and sometimes showers directly after. So there’s a lot going on here that changes a woman’s pH levels. Any time you have guests over, there’s always a chance of bacteria to be transmitted. If you’ve just treated your infection with a prescription, then you’ve nuked your grounds and will surely flare up again within a week or so. If you have an auto immune disease then you are more than likely already used to this cycle. That’s generally followed up with typical advice we all already know. “Just make sure you change out of your workout clothes quickly and try to take showers instead of baths.” Thanks Dr. Obvious, I’ll make a note of that. There are several foods you can add into your diet to help prevent breakouts and keep your hoo-ha happy, like pineapple. You can stop using scented laundry soap and fabric softeners for your underwear. You can try the over the counter “probiotics” found right next to the maxi pads and the Monistat. But the very best thing you can do for your lady parts (and all your parts) is to eat a clean diet of fresh organic veggies, fruits, cultured foods, nuts and seeds. Parasites/Pathogens don’t want to live in a clean environment that’s healthy and thriving with good bacteria. They look for unhealthy terrain to live in. If there’s no unhealthy terrain, there’s no real problems. But let’s assume you’re doing the best you can and you can’t clear this infection, or you don’t have enough money for another copay and prescription, or, you’re on antibiotics frequently and can’t do anything about it. Then what? Well, owning my own hooha, I can very happily tell you that I’ve found a product that helps treat and prevent BV and yeast infection flare-ups that actually 100% works AND, best of all- doesn’t hurt you like antibiotics can. I have researched this product and tested it for over 6 months, while secretly waiting on something horrific to happen and was shocked and pleased beyond measure to find it holds up to it’s promise.
