The Worst Chocolates To Eat
Let's have a countdown of the worst chocolates to eat based on their sugar content, while totally keeping in mind we all want to eat every single one of these, possibly all at the same time. I ask you to bridle yourself as we go through this chocolatey, delicious and terrible list together.
Before We Begin...
I chose to present you this list in a grid format so you could get a better overall sense of sugar content, and easily scale the list for "which is better?" questions. As a chocolate lover myself, it was incredibly difficult to do research without eating all of the evidence. Luckily, I'm not in a chocolate coma somewhere in a hospital, and luckily for you, I survived to share the tale!
What's the maximum amount of sugar I should have in a day?
Linda recommends eating less than 25g of sugar a day.
Is sugar the only thing to worry about?
Besides the sugar content in these chocolate bars, there's also preservatives, chemicals, and the two obvious- fat and salt.

What Surprised Me The Most
6 weeks ago if my son came running up to me and asked "Can I have an entire Hershey's Bar or a handful of M&Ms?" I'd first want to know where all the chocolate was they found, and after that, I'd tell them to just have some M&Ms. What sane mother would let their child eat an entire Hershey's bar??
Well, surprisingly, a handful of M&Ms has 28g of sugar while (an entire!) Hershey's Bar only has 24g. Children are recommended a maximum of 13g of sugar a day, a handful of M&Ms is twice their daily maximum.
I was also surprised that 9 pieces of Kisses had the same amount of sugar as only 5 pieces of Dove. I mean, hey, if you're going down that ugly path of indulgence, at least get your chocolate's worth out of it and go with the 9 pieces!
I would of also thought that Almond Joy (21g of sugar) and bars like 3 Musketeers (40g of sugar) would more closely linked. Who knew it was better to eat sugar soaked coconut than the fluff filling of a 3 Musketeers bar?
I hope this list helps you to make the best choices. None of us are ever going to be perfect. Strive to make the best choices with what you have. If you're gonna eat some chocolate, I hope this list helps you eat a little less sugar in the process!
