I Bought A Juicer… Now What?Juicing is the fastest track to health, weight loss and an energy filled life. Only 15 minutes after consumption, the nutrients are delivered to your bloodstream. If you’d like to learn more about juicing, you can read my article “ What is Juicing?”. But if you’ve just bought a juicer or are thinking about adding a juicing regime, these are the things you need to know. 1. Create A Dedicated Space in Your Fridge For ProduceJuicing requires produce, and produce takes up space so you’ll want to find an area of your fridge and kitchen to keep your juice-ready produce. Most refrigerators are coldest at the top and warmest at the bottom. After years of harboring cucumbers and spinach, I can tell you first hand that those little labels reading “produce/meat/cheese” in your fridge aren’t accurate! The best place to store your veggies is the bottom of the fridge, either in a draw or on the bottom shelf. Produce like tomatoes, lettuce, spinach and kale tend to freeze the higher up and further back you put them, so don’t waste money buying and accidentally freezing your produce. 2. Expect To Go To The Store every 3-5 DaysNow a days, it’s not uncommon for people to only go to the store once a month, with most going biweekly; many dependent on their paychecks. But if you are eating food that’s alive, you’re gonna need to go to the store more often. That’s just a fact. Depending on what you juice and the frequency, you can find yourself in the produce section every 3-5 days. At first it may feel like you’re constantly going to the store, but after just a sort while, you’ll easily fall into a schedule and realize that dropping by Publix on the way home for apples and kale only takes 5 minutes- and juicing them, can literally save your life. Plus, if you’re wandering the produce section, your bound to pick up some other goodies to eat (that are good for you!). Need help planning your juicing regime? You can always book a Meal Planning Session or Grocery Shopping Assistance Session with your MyCoach. 3. Why Are You Juicing?Just about every person that I have helped start juicing has started for health or weight loss. Combatting auto immune disease with high doses of phyto-chemicals and oxygen has given people their lives back. Millions have lost weight successfully by adding juicing into their daily routine. Knowing why your juicing helps you plan out recipes, learn the benefits of various veggies and fruits, and ultimately putting you in control of your health again. Every juice you make needs to help you achieve your desired goal. Keeping your purpose in the forefront of your mind is key to succeeding in the long run. Remember, we aren’t juicing for taste, we are juicing for life. 4. Create a Recipe Book Or Use Ours!Let’s face it, one juice could have 5 ingredients. Are you going to remember exactly how many lemon slices to add? Was that 2 or 3 apples? What’s a “handful” mean? Creating a recipe book allows you write down your juice ingredients without having to remember a thing later, and gives you the chance to add notes like, “gross but works” or “kids love this one” etc. We recommend having 2-4 staple juices as a go to , and then, as boredom pursues, add in new recipes. Many juices are used holistically to treat colds, sinus infections, migraines and more. Pro’s have recipes for any ailment and take them as needed instead of a pill or shake, or trip to the doctor’s office. You might be spending money at the grocery store, but you are saving a bushel full by being healthier. Members can visit our Recipe Page to find Juicing Recipes and even add a comment/note for later. In the Eat2Live2Love App Members can search by category to make shopping easy. Whether you use our App or another, there are tons of recipes out there. Create a Pinterest board, make a scrapbook, or buy a book. Members can also contact their MyCoach for more advice on recipes for their specific needs, plus tips and tricks. 5. Know How To Store Your JuiceOne of the most common questions I’m asked is “How long will it stay good for?” Fresh juice will only stay good for up to 4 hours and trust me, you’ll taste the difference in it after about 2-3 hours. As the cells die inside your juice, so do the nutrients and the flavor. So a freshly squeezed orange juice will taste sweet now and bitter in 4 hours. The best protocol is to drink it after you juice. Most of our Juice Recipes make 4 cups; enough for two servings. So if you drink 2 cups now, how do you store the rest? Let’s get a little sciencey. You’re juicing for nutrients, and the building blocks for those are found inside the cells of the plants you juice. When you juice, you are breaking down those cells, just as if you were chewing them, causing the cells to burst. The phyto-chemicals found in the plant mixes with your saliva creating the nutrients in their finished state, which can now be absorbed into your body. Because those cells are alive, they will die; and the more air and sunlight that gets to it, the faster those cells will die until you just have green bitterness sitting in your fridge! I recommend buying an airtight container that is shaded or tinted. I do not recommend buying metal or tin containers, as they alter the state and taste of juice. A “nothing fancy” travel drink container usually works just fine. 6. Pro TipYou can make juicing take a long time. But you don’t have to. Most of us are busy and aren’t about to spend 30minutes a day, twice a day, standing in the kitchen shoving beets down a juicer shoot. So how can we make juicing quick and efficient enough to do daily? The answer is in what we call “juice containers”; our ingenious strategy to prep and store juices for the future. (which I’m sure someone will steal and make millions on one day) When you’re at the store buying your spinach, buy the spinach in the large plastic container with a lid and save the container! After you’ve accumulated 2-4 plastic containers, you can start prepping containers. On Sunday’s I like to spend 45min prepping 4-8 containers (depending on how much room I have in the fridge!), so that all I have to do M-F is grab a container, add apples and spinach, and go. We have examples of these containers online at #E2LJuice .

What is Juicing?Juicing is a process where juice is extracted from fruits or vegetables generally for the purpose of consumption. The pulp from the produce can then be used in baking, cooking, or creating a compost. Over the last 5-10 years juicing has become more popular, but before you think it’s just another fade, let’s talk about what juicing does, why you should do it, and what you need in order to start juicing. Why Should I Start Juicing?Jason Vale put it best when he said, “Juicing is a 15min express to health, the ultimate fast food.” And that’s true! It’s takes less than 15 minutes for the nutrients in your cup to be absorbed and put to use in your body. It’s also the fastest and most potent way to heal from auto-immune disease, gastrointestinal disease, chronic migraines, sugar addiction, and a host of other chronic illnesses literally too long to list. Juicing also is one of the best methods to natural weight loss, without substituting anything, or going hungry. We have been told that “our brains don’t know when they are full” and so we just keep eating and eating. The cure is to staple your stomach or put you on drugs. Society tells you that you are broken. But what they fail to tell you is the drugs in the American food supply create addicts out of us. It’s the not the food, it’s what’s been done to it. It’s not us who are broken, it’s what the chemicals have done. Don’t believe us? Read just these 2 examples: Microwave Popcorn “ Have you ever tried to surreptitiously make yourself a microwave popcorn at work and found it is impossible to disguise? Microwave popcorn sends off an immediate olfactory alarm to everyone on your floor and probably the floors above and below you. Not only do they know you are not working but snacking they want some microwave popcorn too. The irresistible smell is from the butter flavoring chemicals like diacetyl and Pentanedione which are dissipated into the air by the heating process. And, not surprisingly, there are questions about their safety. While lawsuits have been brought and won by workers in microwave popcorn manufacturing plants who developed "popcorn lung" from working around diacetyl, consumers are also apparently at risk. Two years ago, Wayne Watson was awarded $7 million when he sued the manufacturer and retailers of microwave buttered popcorn that caused him to develop "popcorn lung" after eating two bags daily for 10 years. The potentially fatal respiratory disease is usually a condition called constrictive bronchiolitis obliterans in which the smallest airways of the lung become scarred and constricted, blocking off movement of air. Since diacetyl concerns have been raised, many manufacturers have dropped the ingredient. Some still use the potentially harmful slippery nonstick surface coating PFOA on the popcorn bags, however--another reason to "resist" microwave popcorn and make your own. Especially if you are eating it twice a day like Watson.” See Footnote for full article.1
Salty, Roasted Snacks “Like sugar, people can become addicted to salt and the only way to "kick," say experts, is to go cold turkey and let your taste buds return to normal. But there is another reason that salty snacks like potato chips, French fries, toasted crisp breads and even non-salty roasted breakfast cereals can be irresistible. These foods have undergone the "Maillard reaction," explains New York University food expert Marion Nestle which "causes baked, fried, and toasted foods to turn attractively brown and taste yummy." Cooking carbohydrate-rich foods at temperatures high enough to produce a yellow or brown surface usually means that acrylamide has formed. And, you guessed it, acrylamide is a cancer-causing and potentially dangerous chemical. Once again, the chemicals that make food irresistible are the ones we should resist. The state of California actually sued potato chip makers for failing to warn California consumers about the health risks of acrylamide in 2005. There is something else that makes us crave salty snacks, They are designed to have "vanishing caloric density" or the ability to melt in the mouth, writes Michael Moss. “If something melts down quickly, your brain thinks that there’s no calories in it . . . you can just keep eating it forever," food scientist Steven Witherly tells him during an interview for his book. Potato chips have another hook, say food experts. Their coating of salt, fat and sugar found in the starch of the potato itself reward the brain in a triple punch. The starch is actually absorbed more quickly than sugar, which causes glucose levels in the blood to spike and the body to yell "more!" A New England Journal of Medicine study of 120,877 women and men found the most weight-inducing food they ate was potato chips.” See footnotes for full article2 Rid Your Body of ToxinsOften times, when we speak of toxins inside your body, we are referring to the toxins that you put in your body through consumption or environmental means. The two previous examples are just a very small piece of an ever larger moving puzzle. Now imagine that 70% of your diet is processed food (not fresh fruits and veggies), and 90% of that is probably laden with toxins. These toxins are in small quantities no doubt, but with repeated daily consumption, the American public is slowly killing itself by what it eats. The Monsanto propaganda that they would “feed the world” has done nothing but the opposite. Cancer rates are skyrocketing, and those affected are younger and younger with each generation. Areas that used Monsanto products are now turned to dust, left in ruin, with nothing but dry cracked grounds. These toxins affect our nervous system, our immune system, and neurological system. Juicing helps to flush these out of your system by creating an oxygen rich environment; and the toxins and bacteria can no longer thrive in that environment. Plus, with a healthy diet, including eating beans more often, these bacteria and toxins will adhere to the nutrients and are flushed out of the body instead of adhering to the intestinal/colon walls. What You Need In Order to Start JuicingThere is definitely an expense to juicing, from the initial purchase of the juicer to the produce you put in it. But this cost is minuscule compared to the cost of co-pays, prescriptions and drug care. Trust us. The typical juicer costs between $100-300, with the biggest names and best brands going for over $500. If you are a Member, you can checkout our Resource List for juicers Eat2Live2Love recommends. We do not recommend buying a Ninja, or Jason Vale Juicer, as both are over priced and aren’t worth the effort. Everyone’s needs are different. Some juice for health & energy, some for weight loss, some for disease treatment- so the recipes you select are completely up to you and can cost you an average of $3-5 dollars a day depending on what you juice and how often. Members can visit the Recipes section to find the perfect juice recipes for them, or can ask their MyCoach for recipe recommendations. Results Won’t VaryEveryone sees life changing results. Juicing doesn’t just work for “some” people and not for others. We are all human, and require the same basic fundamental nutrient rich diet. We all require oxygen in our blood, and everyone deserves to be free of their suffering. If you begin juicing, with the support of your MyCoach, we guarantee you will have success; unless you’re an alien, in which case, we can’t help you. So juice it up and watch the results in as early as a week! For more help on what to do next, Become a Member or contact your MyCoach- your success is ours.
